What is a protected site in Haven?
Short answer
A site Haven gives its full treatment: it confirms who runs the site, checks its links, and pauses your other extensions while it is open. Sites come from Haven's catalog or are added by you or your organization.
The catalog
Every site in Haven's curated catalog, grouped into categories, is Verified. Sites in five categories are also Protected by default, so Haven pauses your other extensions there: Banking & Wealth, Taxes, Government, State Portals and Healthcare.
Adding your own
You can add your own sites to Haven's protected list, and an organization can add sites for its whole team. A site you add is protected whichever categories are switched on.
What protection means on the page
'Protected — the real {brand}' means Haven verified the site and, because the site is Protected, paused your other extensions on that tab. The popup then says 'You're protected'.
Where trust stops
One brand can own a domain where thousands of other people publish content. Trusting the brand shouldn't mean trusting all of them.
Haven doesn't extend a brand's trust to content other people control on that brand's platform, such as Google Sites pages, cloud storage buckets, shared files or hosted forms. Those pages are checked like any other page and don't get the brand's verified badge.
